Jogger finds poetry in early morning fog

Jogging along the perimeter of Creve Coeur Lake, I noticed how the early morning fog seemed to cling to the water. Or was it that the lake didn’t want to let go?

Either way it pushed the gray out of a wintry day, suggesting companionship comes in various shapes and sizes, especially in a scene of such breathtaking poetry. Which led me to other thoughts and observations:

There’s a reason why I prefer running with a cluster of like-minded folks. The same way I like discussing the pros and cons of a recently read novel.

Runners, like readers, tend to form clubs for the camaraderie as much as the physical and mental benefit. We like to talk about our favorite pastimes as much as we enjoy living them.

It’s as much human nature as it is Nature’s nature to want to share the experience rather than go it all alone.
