Writing is like navigating the dance floor. It takes courage to put yourself out there, and there’s no guarantee you’ll one day dazzle an audience, but the experience will be worth the effort.
It’s not easy
Throughout the countless hours of writing, editing, rewriting, you will learn much about your drive to produce quality work. There will be times when it seems too daunting a project. But something from within echoes the notion that you’ve put too much into it to give up. You believed in yourself before and that hasn’t changed.
A glimmer of hope
Through the dark days of self-doubt and exhaustion comes a hint that you’re making progress. The sentence really does pull truth from head, heart and soul. You begin to believe that a total stranger will see the same thing. Before long that stranger will want more of the same.
An audience begins to form
You get up enough nerve to ask for feedback. Some of it is negative, but there are also some positive reviews. They want to know what else you have in mind. When’s the next book coming out?
Was it worth it?
You start to feel like all that hard work is paying off. It’s not whether it turns into a best seller or leads to fame; you belong. You’re in the dance one step at a time.
